New Beginnings
I had no idea when I started working at Adventure Nannies in 2016 that, seven years later, I’d be running a seven-figure company, or how entrenched in the industry I would quickly become. Similarly, I had no idea when leaving the music industry that the universe of nanny agencies would be filled with passionate and driven individuals who genuinely care about making a difference in the lives they touch and sprinting towards long-overdue systems of inequity and institutionalized racism, sexism, and other -isms. I never imagined the close friendships and bonds I would form with so many folks in this space, or thought I’d be received so graciously and invited into so many leadership positions and seats throughout the industry.
It’s been an honor to sit on the boards of the Association of Premier Nanny Agencies (APNA), to be a founding member and chairperson of Nanny Relief Fund, and to be a board advisor to the International Nanny Association (INA) as well as The Institute For Families and Nannies (TIFFAN) and to speak at countless conferences, retreats, and industry events.
Our industry is not perfect (is any industry?) but over the last four years since I reluctantly agreed to consult with one company, then another, then another, I have gotten to hear first-hand about the successes and challenges many of us go through as agency owners - from launching a business to hiring a first employee to building to sell and going through valuation and brokerage firms. I’m proud to be going “official” and launching Invisible Consulting as an inclusive, industry-specific service for all of the moments that you need a confidential conversation, a listening ear, a kick in the butt, or a hand up from being a full-time problem solver. I’m grateful I’m here, and that you’re here.
